Long lens lore

It’s been a busy week and I’ve been tired, but overall everything has been good. I’ve been playing catch-up at work from being sick last week, and still a little bit from my trip to Las Vegas.

Aside from work my friend Tye has been in town and I’ve seen him a couple of times. He had played with Blinky (my new workstation) when he was in town earlier and decided that he could really use a modern machine. He ordered it through PC Club and I was going to pick it up and configure it for him. When we got it there was a bit of a hassle because the SATA controller was bad. It took me a day or so to figure this out, after having to buy (of all the old things) a floppy drive so that I could load the newest drivers for the controller to eliminate that as a possibility. After I finally got it working I was able to give it to Tye, and I think he will really enjoy the performance when he’s working in Photoshop.

Tonight was the annual WSA Industry Achievement Awards. I ended up having to go with my work and sit through yet another long boring ceremony and dinner. It was insufferably hot and I’ve been tired so it really was not fun at all. They had this one video about the future of technology with a bunch of clips of teenagers talking about this program that introduced them to technology. I’m amazed that they aired it because I have never seen a stupider grouping of ugly teenagers spouting the stupidest things about “the future”! *sigh* Am I just doomed to be old, cynical, and bitter about new fangled things just like every generation?

On a plus note my shipment from Adorama Camera came in today! I got my new 28-135mm IS USM lens and boy am I pleased - I'll post a full review of it in a couple of weeks. I also got the Lowepro Computrekker AW backpack and I’m really excited to be able to carry my entire studio (including my laptop) with me everywhere I go. It should really help me miss less of those “opportunity shots”.
